    Cumberland Currents Swim Update

    Hello, Currents!

We hope this message finds you and your families healthy and well!  We wanted to give you an update regarding what we know so far for the 2020 CASL Summer swim season.  Below is the official communication from CASL released today.  Please read as this is the latest info available.  We will be posting this on our Swimtopia website as well.

The Currents board/coaches have been meeting to assess the situation, and are still working hard behind the scenes to make sure that if/when we can get the swimmers the water, we will be ready to go. A lot is out of our control but we are all very hopeful to still have a great season.

Obviously a lot more to come during these unprecedented times, but we will keep you informed with as much as we know when we know it.  For the time being we will not be opening registration - awaiting more guidance from the league in May.  There is a chance that the dates of swim meets/City Meet could be push back into late July - again, at this point we do not have details but wanted to put that out there in case summer swim impacted your summer plans.

Please know that we are here for you if there is anything you need.  Swim aside, if your families are experiencing any difficulties through this process, please contact us @[email protected].  We care and are here to help - let's all take care of each other!

Stay tuned for updates and stay well!

    April 11, 2020

COVID-19 has deeply impacted the lives of everyone across the nation, including the Chattanooga and surrounding area swim communities.

The Chattanooga Area Swim League Executive Board and Pool Representatives have met several times over the past few weeks via Zoom to discuss the 2020 summer swim season. Rest assured, the League remains 100% committed to having a summer season but will continue to follow the guidance of our medical experts, our federal, state and local governments, as well as USA Swimming.

Our summer swim season is set to begin in approximately 8 weeks. At this time, we do not know what the future holds, but we will continue to monitor the situation. With that in mind, we are hopeful that teams can begin the season sometime in early June.

We are hopeful that this time of quarantine and social distancing will be successful in eliminating concerns about COVID-19, and we will be able to have the season as planned. If the situation is such that we cannot have a full season, we will look at options for extending the season later into July or having a partial season. Our feeling is that some swimming is better than no swimming!

The League will be meeting again the first week of May and will provide additional updates at that time.

    Stay Well,
    The Chattanooga Area Swim League
